In the mid-90s, I lived on the East Coast, outside of Albany, NY, for four years. The winters were brutal: subfreezing temperatures, 3-4 months of never-ending snow, bone-chilling winds. However, the colors of the hills during the fall were amazing. In the Bay Area, there isn’t much of a fall season, and the trees are not as varied to create the amalgam of color. There are, however, some areas along the Eastern Sierra with groves of aspen, including Lee Vining Canyon and June Lake Loop, which can be breathtaking. Enjoy!
